What made you want to join Medibank?
Having worked with Salesforce (now SALMAT) on the Medibank outbound sales project, I had the great opportunity of interacting with both new and existing members of Medibank.
Being a facilitator to our members in helping them decide on an appropriate health cover for themselves as well as helping them manage their policy gave me good job satisfaction.
What does your job involve?
Members’ health conversations are always very sensitive and helping them to decide/manage their private health cover is our primary job.
What is your proudest/most enjoyable moment at Medibank?
Being the highest salesperson in my very first year at Medibank in the call centre and later being offered the Acting Team Leader role in the contact centre.
What’s the best thing about working for Medibank?
Medibank puts their employees first just as they expect frontline to put their customers first. This culture gave me the opportunity to work with literally every frontline role within Medibank (New biz, reach project (welcome calls), contact centre support consultant, resolutions officer, mentor, team leader and retail store leader).
How does Medibank help you to do the things in life you love to do most?
Medibank has a fair work/life balance, and being a dad of two little girls, Medibank has given me many options in terms of flexible working hours that in turn help me cope as a young dad and still keep up my career aspirations.
What support have you received to achieve your career ambitions?
Leaders within Medibank have picked up on my work ethic and attitude that I bring to work and have given me a chance to show off my skills.
What career development opportunities have you experienced?
Secondment roles as a resolution officer in the contact centre, a 2IC, and now a Store Leader.
How do your managers or senior leaders inspire and guide you to help you achieve your potential?
More recently by simply placing a huge amount of trust in you and mentoring when required.
What has surprised you most about your role with Medibank?
The current support model in terms of the ‘extended leadership team’ is not only a great resource for us but has started to show great results in terms of optimisation within the retail team.
What would you say to someone considering a role at Medibank?
A one stop shop for your career aspirations, and the best place to start off especially for fresh graduates as the opportunities within Medibank are numerous be it IT, management, retail, etc.
