In the Spotlight: Conor McIlroy – Injury Management Advisor

Published: August 9, 2016

Meet Conor McIlroy, Medibank’s newest Injury Management Advisor! Conor recently joined the Wellbeing and Community team, within our People and Culture function, located in our Melbourne head office, Medibank Place.

Describe your first impressions of working at Medibank: Medibank place is the Hogwarts of workplaces (I’m a nerd). In particular, the visit to the Stephanie Alexander garden and the demonstration kitchen inspired me to cook a proper dinner for the first time in ages. No more eating cans of tuna over the kitchen sink for me!

Where did you work before Medibank? Sensis, AIA, P2 Group. I’m an Occupational Therapist by trade.

What’s your most memorable career moment to date?  The first day back for an individual who had been off work for 2 years following the onset of a mental health injury. Helping that person find a sense of purpose and see the welcome back they received from their colleagues was very rewarding.

What attracted you to a role at Medibank? The chance to work at a company that aims to be a leader in health development.

What was your first paid job? Cricket umpire.

What do you spend time doing when not working? Exercise. Buffets. Cursing.

What is something that not many people know about you? I don’t believe in sceptics.

What does ‘For Better Health’ mean to you? Implementing realistic changes into your daily life that have a positive effect on your mental and physical well-being.
