Medibank’s Garrison Health Services (GHS) delivers a national integrated healthcare service to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Through Medibank’s extensive network, GHS provides seamless access to quality healthcare to the 60,000+ permanent and 20,000+ reservist uniformed ADF personnel – from point of injury or illness to recovery.
We provide comprehensive management of the provision and clinical oversight of health services to the ADF through an innovative model. These services are delivered through its GHS business and include prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for both physical and mental health conditions. These capabilities are provided through excellence and consistency in clinical governance and management practices.
An integral part of the GHS model is the delivery of primary care health services across 59 ADF On-base Health Centres. On-base contracted healthcare professionals are dedicated to supporting the unique frontline healthcare requirements of ADF personnel. We manage and coordinate more than 1200 contracted health professionals providing over 1.4 million health service hours per year, spanning a broad range of multi-disciplinary clinical services.

If your CV is shortlisted you will be contacted by the Talent Acquisition Partner for Garrison to discuss your background, employment history and motivation for applying for the role. It is also a great opportunity to discuss the Defence contract and ask questions to see if this is the right career move for you.
Q: How long is the phone discussion?
A: About 30mins depending on how many questions you have. The recruitment process will also be discussed during this time so you are clear on the next steps should you progress
Your interview may be on base, a venue outside the base or over the phone depending on your location. You will be interviewed by the Regional Manager who is responsible for that base and is regularly on site liaising with ADF personnel and Medibank employees. They will be looking to see whether your previous employment matches up to the role and how your skill set will fit into a Defence environment.
Q: How long will the interview go for?
A: Depending on the role the time can range from 30mins to 60mins
Q: What should I do to prepare?
A: The interview will include behavioural questions so come prepared with an understanding of Defence and some good examples of what you have achieved in the past. This website is a good starting point for your research
A site visit to the base can be arranged so you can visit the health centre facility and observe the day to day of the role.
Q: How long does a site visit take?
A: Generally a couple of hours to visit the facility, tour the base and see the operations of the healthcare team
Q: Will I be paid for this time?
A: No. We expect candidates to find their own time to visit the base, which is optional and not a requirement of the process
