Amplar Health Online Doctor
A new venture awaits…
Join our innovative Virtual GP service, a key part of our mission to build a market-leading virtual care ecosystem for our employees and Corporate Australia.
Our Virtual GPs have the opportunity to shape the clinical model, influence the patient and doctor experience and contribute to redefining virtual care as we continue to build out our service.
Our GPs (RACGP or ACRRM fellows) will deliver high-quality video and phone consultations, providing non-urgent or semi-urgent episodic care to employees and other stakeholders across a range of age groups and clinical needs — without replacing their regular GP.
We want patients to feel “cared for” and more confident in their health because of the care they have received. Our current reputation is as a health service that cares and we’re resolute in our commitment to maintain this reputation as we grow.
Amplar Health has delivered virtual health services for over 15 years and is supported by a strong medically led clinical governance team with a reputation from funders and government as a high quality health service provider.
Work closely with a community of Specialist GPs, led by an experienced certified Practice Manager & RACGP Standards accreditation assessor with a shared passion for delivering quality care, from anywhere.
We are committed to ensuring strong medical leadership, building a high-quality service, empowering you to provide the best care and providing you flexible working arrangements. Why? Because what’s important to you is important to us – a career in healthcare made personal.
This includes:
- Using technology to help you keep your eyes on the patient, not on the admin!
- Almost exclusive private billing (another admin win!)
- Flexible working hours to fit around your Clinic work, lifestyle, family, or new child.
- Medical Leadership by Dr Craig Gordon and Dr Helen Surtees – with 50 years clinical experience between them.
- An experienced Certified Practice Manager & RACGP Standards accreditation assessor leading our operations (2023 State Practice Manager of the Year)
- A well-known patient management system supported by internal IT teams.
- Unapologetically prioritising clinical quality and safety.
- We’re busy working out how we can make your annual CPD easier and use AI to make your consulting more enjoyable (both a work in progress!)
How we operate
Virtual GPs will be provided with equipment and technology to enable them to work from home or another suitable location within Australia, with the aim of providing a flexible and convenient work option. GPs must have reliable internet to utilise the virtual service.

Meet the Team
Collean Guest – Practice Manager, Virtual GP
My role as a certified Practice Manager for the Virtual GP service is the pinnacle of a long-term career in the Primary Health sector. Working with a great team of colleagues and GPs who are passionate about making a difference fulfils my need to try and contribute to a healthier and happier way of living for all. The GP services we deliver aim to address the gaps and challenges in accessing GP care and assist in reducing the burden on the acute systems.
My favourite work perk is…The flexibility in my day to choose how I work and the ability to work from home.
A career in healthcare made personal to me means…Being able to make a difference to people’s health outcomes and improving their quality of life through systems and programs I’ve contributed to.
Dr Craig Gordon – Co-Principal GP
Joining the highly talented ventures team has been a career highlight. As we focus on establishing the leading Virtual GP Service in Australia, combining extensive clinic experience with advanced innovation in technology and product development has already provided an early harvest with so much potential for further growth in the field.
My favourite work perk is…The flexibility to work from home – never far from my family.
A career in healthcare made personal to me means… Being encouraged to work to my strengths within a supportive team structure as well as the opportunity and freedom to explore areas of interest beyond the usual career limitations.
Dr Helen Surtees – Co-Principal GP
As one of the lead GPs in the Amplar Online Doctor clinic. I am proud to be involved in the development of such an innovative service which never loses sight of the ultimate objective, delivery of excellent patient care. I have been a career GP for more than 30 years, it’s a job I love, and the team I work with share my passion for quality in everything they do. The transition to working in the virtual environment has revitalised my enthusiasm for medicine as I can work when I want, and from any location in Australia.
My favourite work perk is… The generous Private Health Insurance subsidy and other employee benefits that allow me to truly look after my health and wellbeing.
A career in healthcare made personal to me means… Having more control over my work hours and the flexibility to work from anywhere in Australia and spend more time along the coast, which I love. It means a decrease in stress and an increase in energy which then translates to being more connected with my family, self-care and hobbies.
