Our business

Medibank is a leading private health insurer, with more than 45 years of experience delivering better health to Australians. We look after the health cover needs of more than 3.7 million customers through our Medibank and ahm brands, and distribute travel, life and pet insurance.

As part of our commitment to support the health and wellbeing of our customers and everyone in Australia, we also provide a range of health services across the country, including mental health support, preventative and better-integrated primary care, and after-hours health support.

Medibank Private Limited is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: MPL) and is headquartered in Melbourne.

For over 30 years we’ve been providing a range of healthcare services with a focus on developing new models of care and alternative approaches to some hospital in-patient treatments. Driven by a desire to make health care more personal, we listen to the health needs of people in Australia and our partners to co-create programs that aim to improve both partner and patient experiences.

Our people

We’re focused on creating an environment where our employees can make an impact and get the most out of each day.

To do that, we need to listen and learn from our people, and we regularly encourage them to share their thoughts via a series of regular pulse surveys throughout the year. In 2022, these surveys drew more than 30,000 comments and show our people remain highly engaged, valuing the flexibility they have to manage their work and life commitments and to choose where they work, based on what they need to get done.

They feel well supported in regard to their health and well-being, and opportunities for professional development. The survey also highlighted the strength of our people leadership, with employees feeling supported and cared for throughout COVID. But there is always room for improvement.

Our people want a greater focus on reward and recognition and we need to make it easier for them to get things done. The real-time feedback we are receiving through our always-on strategy is better informing our decision-making.
